Sheltered Lessons
In this page, two sheltered lessons are included, both contain the SIOP, language acquisition theories, ESL effective teaching practices and authentic activities that promotes learning and acquisition in a second language. These two lessons were aligned with the TEKS and ELPS guidelines, as well with high order of thinking objectives.
Lesson 1 - Literacy Development - “Common Sense: An Anansi Tale”
This lesson involves a transcultural literacy foundation with real language and authentic activities included, with the purpose to support LOTE, ESL and ELL students to develop in-depth knowledge of a contextualized vocabulary. The ELPS linked with this lesson is cross-curricular in second language acquisition/speaking.

Lesson 2 - Multimedia Presentation - "Math Division"
This lesson is a multimedia math class that pretends to teach to exceptional children in how to learn long division. The resources incorporated in this lesson were instructional videos, explicit instruction, songs, and math vocabulary activities. This lesson was designed for ELL, LOTE and ESL learners with the purpose they can learn content material and language at the same time.
